Featured Speaker
Wayne Mortensen, NeighborWorks Lincoln
Wayne spoke to the group about NeighborWorks mission to help families find affordable housing. They place 90 families a year in homes. Wayne profiled a couple of the projects that NeighborWorks has worked on. NeighborWorks held their first ever Spirit of Lincoln awards this month. They recognized Lincoln business, organizations and individuals who have helped advance the NeighborWorks mission. In 2022, the Lincoln community will be able to nominate their choice for most of the awards. Affordable housing is more than finding families homes, it leads to economic stability for our community. For business to grow they need a stable workforce and that workforce needs a good home to live in. Wayne shared some stats regarding the current state of the housing market in Lincoln. There are many challenges for organizations like NeighborWorks in the current market conditions. Issues like land availability and a labor shortage are examples.
